Share Your Joost Invites
I have heard about Joost many times before but never cared to know what it was until people started asking me for an invite.
What’s Joost?
Joost is a new way of watching TV on the internet. With Joost, you get all the things you love about TV, including a high-quality full-screen picture, hundreds of full-length shows and easy channel-flipping.

Joost (pronounced ‘juiced’) is an interactive software for distributing TV shows and other forms of video over the Web using peer-to-peer TV technology, created by Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis (founders of Skype and Kazaa).

To try out Joost beta, we need an invite. And since I don’t have any invites and is asked for them by others, I put up this post so that those who have an invite can share it with those who don’t.
So who can invite me? Who else needs invites?

I’ve heard about Joost before, it’s high quality and has a lot of channels, but it takes up a lot of space on your computer. Just a heads up.

Ronald- I’m not sure… I just heard that it takes up a lot of space and not recommended if you don’t have fast connection or a lot of space.

Grace It takes around 35 Mb thats not much and download size is 10 mb. Internet connection, yes you need at least 512 KB…I am watching it at 256 lil slow but I enjoy it

Hi All,
I am a Joost Beta Tester and can send as much invites as i wish (almost). However I must say, it sucks much of the system resources. If u have at least 500Mb RAM and Leased line Internet then only it is worth try. But the quality is real good.
Anybody needing an invite can contact me here .

I dont have any invites i dont know why. About the speed, yeah it stucks in between….but quality is awesome. I have good hardware but Speed is the problem

@Online Technologies: Only members having Joost invite can do so. It is simple. BUt you first have to have an invite.

@Webtools: I am already using Joost. I see in the widget an invite my friends tool coming up too. But when i try sending one..it says you dont have any invites left….any ideas

@Grace: After you posses an invite and register at their site, then you are given enough invites, with which you can invite others.

Recently Joost increased the number of invites to 999, read it some where, this is only for peeple who is already having invites.

@Online Technologies: Earlier Joost was giving only 5 invites per members. May be this has to do something with that.

I tried to send the invite now, it says you have dont have any invites and when I check my invites status, it says You have not send any invites till now.

If you need an invite click on my name that brings you to my blog and fill out the contact form. I don’t know how many invites I have but I will try and get you one.
Joost does use up a lot of system resources. Right now I am running it window mode, not full mode and my CPU usage is fluctuating between 50 and 70%. I have a 3ghz processor with 2gb of RAM on a DSL connection. I have a dual monitor system which is pretty neat. I don’t run Joost in full screen mode because I get stuttering. In window mode it works fine.

@Ellen: Its true, Its taking around 60% of CPU usage any time . It doesn’t slow the system as I am able to do other activities but heavy application it surely will delay.
My net speed slow downs a lot. Opening up gmail compose box takes time….Its surely a speed killer.

Madhur Kapoor- Joost is good. Audio and Video quality is also good. But it takes a lot of time to load the video.
To use Joost I need a faster Internet connection

@Grace, I have 1 Mpbs ADSL, with peak download speeds upto about 150 kbps. But this is just not sufficient.

I got an invite to this a while back and never even tried using it. I’ll try it when I get home. I have 3GB of RAM and a 8 MBps internet connection, so hopefully this will work well.

I gave it a whirl last night. It can take a wee while for stuff to download and I found the interface a little confusing but maybe that was down to the fact that I’d had a couple of beers before I installed it!
