WordPress Plugin: Add Related Posts To Your Feed
ADVERTISEMENTSBack in August 2006, I had explained a way to add Related Posts to your feed. But it involved modifying the wp-rss2 file. Now thanks to Solo Technology, you can add related posts to your feed without modifying any file but by just activating their wonderful WordPress Plugin.
You will need either UTW or w-a-s-a-b-i Related Posts plugin installed and activated.
Their first release of the plugin only supports UTW. So if you want support for w-a-s-a-b-i Related Posts, download the second release.
Installation
Download the plugin from here, unzip it and upload it to your plugins directory and then activate it. That’s it!
Why do you need to add related posts to your feed?
Because it will help you get your RSS readers to visit your blog and thereby increase your blog’s pageviews.

I’m going to go implement this now. I think the related posts is great on the typical page, and now putting that in the RSS feed adds even more value.

Cool. I’ve been tweaking the feed manually so I’m going to give this a miss. I think some others will appreciate it though.
Will share it with some other webmasters I know. Thanks again.

Adding related posts to your post page is a great way to allow for people to discover older posts that you have worked hard on writing. That is what’s funny about blogs. Great content gets buried with newer content. And unless you use the search bar, it can be difficult for viewers to read all the wonderful things you have written in the past. Also, related posts is a great way towards getting your older posts indexed in the search engines. Great post John, I agree and totally recommend that everyone display related posts on their blogs. Either by use of plugins, or manually creating a list of posts that you personally recommend viewers to read.

Ashish – open up my related post plugin and find this line:
add_filter('the_content', 'st_addRelatedPoststoFeed',99);Lower the 99 (perhaps 10?) until it is lower than your copyright plugin. Or raise the copyright plugin’s number.
Hope that helps.
