How to Get Your RSS Readers to Visit Your Blog
ADVERTISEMENTSOne reason why some bloggers stick with partial feeds is the fear that their readers will stop visiting their blogs and start reading their content through Feed Readers. Well, there are some ways to get your RSS readers to visit your blog.
Like for example, when I had announced about my new blog design, I experienced a slight increase in traffic on that day. It might have been my RSS readers who visited my blog after they read about the new design on their Feed Reader.
Here are some more ways to get your RSS readers to visit your blog:
- Link to your older posts
When writing a new post, try to link to your previous posts whenever possible. This can help you both in increasing your pageviews and in getting your RSS readers to visit your blog.
- Ask your readers for feedback
Try to encourage comments by asking for feedback, like I asked for opinion on my new design. This way you will get your readers to come to your blog to comment. This also helps in improving your relationship with your readers.
- Polls
Polls are another great way to get feedback from your readers. And to give feedback they need to visit your blog
But don’t forget to announce your poll on your blog. How else will RSS readers, who rarely visit your blog, know about the Poll?
- Video
I have not tried this on my blog yet, but I have seen other bloggers post videos from YouTube on their blogs.
The Feed Readers I have tried out so far do not display videos and hence you may get RSS readers to visit your blog by posting interesting videos. (Do you know any feed readers that display videos?)
Do remember to put a short message to notify your RSS subscribers of the video on the post. Otherwise it would be confusing, especially if the post contains only a video.
- Related posts in feeds
Many bloggers use the related posts plugin to give their readers more related content that they are likely to be interested in.
After RSS readers read your posts on their Feed readers they will most likely want to read more. So why not try this on your Feeds too? I had blogged about it a while back here.
- Most popular in Feeds
Just like showing related posts in feeds, why not try to show your blog’s most popular posts in your Feed too? It may help you to get RSS readers to visit your blog. You can find info about it here.
I hope these tips encourage bloggers using Partial Feeds to switch to Full Feeds. Also, what other tips would you like to add to this list?

Great set of tips. I usually ignore RSS feeds, etc. Seems I should exploit this potential area as well to tap in more footfalls to my site.
Thanks for sharing.
I also use FeedDemon. Does’nt show videos.
