[...] I have been using TuneUp Utilities for about 4 years now and I was thrilled when I found out that TuneUp Utilities 2007 was released. Over the years TuneUp Utilities has helped me keep my PC clean of junk data and helped me get good performance out of my PC. I love it’s Graphical User Interface and some of it’s features like Disk Cleaner, Registry Cleaner, Registry Defrag and System Optimizer. [...]

Michele, I know where you're coming from. I have used several registry cleaners before I started using the one that you mentioned.

Essentially, I pretty much arrived at the same conclusion that you had reached. I does seem that many registry editors are programmed very aggressively. I often wonder is this is the bait that gets the consumer to jump. I.E. "You have 600 errors would you like them fixed." Who wouldn't, except that the reality is that they probably only have a few hundred and all of those others that were deleted will be needed at a later time for another program. I guess that's just the way it is. Though I'm glad that I have the software that I've got now. Not too hot, not too cold, but just right. :)

Tune Up's registry cleaner is OK but I have had more success with cleaning up my registry by making use of StompSoft's Registry Repair (http://www.stompsoft.com/registry-repair.html). I'm not sure why, but I think that various registry cleaners are more engaged on certain aspects of the registry than others; because of this it often appears that while one cleaner sees a entry as a problem another cleaner won't.

RegCleaner is one of my favorites too because of it's ease of use but it's not as good in cleaning the registry as TuneUp is.

For example, uninstall an unwanted program and clean your registry with RegCleaner and then try TuneUp's Registry Cleaner. You will still find unwanted entries!
