I think it depends on our audience. Social Bookmarking is a new concept to many folks out there and these little buttons help inform them.

Yes, people using social bookmarking services such as Digg, del.icio.us or Furl usually know how to add items to their accounts. But what if they forget to bookmark?

And what’s wrong with these icons?

Do they take too long to load?

Are they too colorful?

All these icons do is to help readers to bookmark the post they like easily

Indeed this is a good plugin, but how about checking a article http://web-graphics.com/mtarchive/001736.php where Andreas argues against the excessive use of XML buttons and favicons on blogs and websites.

Social Bookmark Icons: People using social bookmarking services such as Digg, del.icio.us or Furl usually know how to add items to their accounts and don’t need your favicons.

XML Buttons: Potential subscribers will probably use their feed reader’s “subscribe to” bookmarklet, a plugin or their reader’s interface and don’t need all those links to third-party services.

Hmm.. this makes sense right ? Let me know your comments
