I have been using Crazy Egg, the click tracking service from ACS, for a few days now and I am quite impressed. For those of you who have not heard about it- Crazy Egg is a service that let’s you track every click a visitor makes on links, forms, advertisements, and flash documents. The results can be viewed in 3 modes - Overlay, List and Heatmap.

Crazy Egg currently offers 4 different types of plans. The free plan lets you track 5,000 visits per month and 2 pages at once. I have only tried the free plan so far.

After registering, you will be taken to the Dashboard from where you can add new pages for testing a new design, various layouts or Ad placements to see which work better.

Recently a reader asked me what the benefit of using FeedBurner is.

Please explain the benefit of offering my feed through feedburner, instead of giving feed directly. I recently signed up with them and they gave me an URL and asked to publish on my blog for offering subscription through that URL. What benefit will I get by offering their URL, instead of using my own which is mydomain.com/feed ?

After answering, I thought of putting up my reply here too for my readers with the same question. Here goes…

The default RSS/Atom feed does a good job of letting your readers know when you publish a new post, but when it comes to statistics and tracking your RSS/Atom feeds, there is no better tool than FeedBurner.

Today while visiting ProBlogger.net, I found an Official Seal Generator.

It was reported here on August 24th that Google was updating Backlinks on these two datacenters: 64.233.187.104 and 64.233.187.99.

But for some reason the backlinks has not been updated on the majority of their datacenters.

Neil Patel states some possible reasons for this:

1. Google is trying a last minute tweak to their algorithm and they want to test it out on a few datacenters before rolling it out to the rest
2. A problem occurred when they updated those two datacenters
3. The update “accidentally” happened so they decided to halt it for now

Currently I have 190 backlinks to www.johntp.com and 59 to http://johntp.com as Google is considering both as different domains. I hope my backlinks are corrected this time

A few bloggers let me know recently that their Alexa Traffic Ranking has been the same for about a month now.

Today I found that my ranking had improved from 73,409 to 57,708

But for some reason Firefox and IE does not display the new rankings for me even after clearing the Cache several times. The new ranking is shown only in Opera

When I first joined blogtopsites, Problogger.net used to Rank 1 or 2 most of the time. But recently I noticed it go down to Rank 5. It seems sites such as Fosfor.se, Blogiseverything.com, Quickonlinetips.com and Ghacks.net are pushing Problogger.net into lower rankings day by day.

Today I found this site being Ranked 5 and Problogger.net Ranked 6:shock:

I am sure this is temporary as I have only about half the traffic that Darren has and ofcourse I want to see Problogger.net Ranked as no.1 always

A few minutes ago, I decided to pay Digg a visit and I found that it was down again.

The last time it was down because they were preparing the launch of Digg 3.0

Multi-Page is a plugin for WordPress that enables you to write a single post over several pages. This plugin is useful when you want to write a series of posts on a topic.

WordPress in recent versions (1.5 and above) does not provide any visible buttons to support multiple pages even though it supports the functionality internally. This plugins enables you to easily break your WordPress article into multiple pages. It works for both WYSIWYG as well as text mode.
