Google updating Backlinks

It was reported here on August 24th that Google was updating Backlinks on these two datacenters: 64.233.187.104 and 64.233.187.99.

But for some reason the backlinks has not been updated on the majority of their datacenters.

Neil Patel states some possible reasons for this:

  1. Google is trying a last minute tweak to their algorithm and they want to test it out on a few datacenters before rolling it out to the rest
  2. A problem occurred when they updated those two datacenters
  3. The update “accidentally” happened so they decided to halt it for now

Currently I have 190 backlinks to www.johntp.com and 59 to http://johntp.com as Google is considering both as different domains. I hope my backlinks are corrected this time :(

New features for Google Talk

Google released a new version of Google Talk that introduces several more features

File transfer: You can share any type of file, any size and any number of times at faster speeds as Google Talk makes a direct connection to your friend’s computer whenever possible. You can also drag and drop one or more files directly onto a chat window.

When you drop photos smaller previews automatically appear right inside the chat window. The previews adjust to the size of your chat window, so just enlarge the window when you want to see more detail.

Voicemail: The feature I have always wanted, you can now leave voicemails for any of your Google Talk contacts when they don’t answer a call. You can even record voice notes and send them to anyone (even to people not running Google talk) by just adding their email address to your contact list .

Music status sharing: This is another cool feature. It let’s you show your friends what music you are currently listening to as your status message.

Gmail coming out of Beta?

I just read on PC World that Australian and New Zealand residents can get a Gmail account without invitation.

Although still in beta form, Google plans to release a final version once “strong internal metrics” are met.

“We’ll take Gmail out of beta once we feel we’ve met these metrics,” the spokesperson said. “However, users should know that Gmail is reliable and is quickly becoming more widely available. In fact, tens of millions of users around the world already depend on Gmail every day.

Wow, it would be so nice to see Gmail out of Beta stage. Almost all the products they release are in Beta.

The proof is here it’s showing a pr5.

See other threads about the update on Digital Point, SEOchat

I am not so sure that the PageRank update has begun, not because my blog has been stuck with PR 3 for several months now :-(

Today a new feature was launched on Google Blog Search that lets us narrow our search by date,i.e, by Last hour,by Last 12 hours,by Last day,by Past week and by Past month. You can also search by choosing start and end dates by yourself.

Using this feature, you can also track blog posts on your favorite topics according to when those items were posted. They have also incorporated some improvements in search quality that should make your blog-search experience even better.
